Justice is a word pregnant with meaning in these gravid times. Justice must be human and fair-minded and requires empathy and compassion in how one treats others. “Justice, and only justice, you shall pursue,” the children of Israel are told in Deuteronomy. “And will not God grant justice to his chosen ones who cry to him day and night?” Jesus asks his disciples in the Gospel of Luke. “I tell you, he will quickly grant justice to them.” Our call is to live into our Baptismal vows when we promise to strive for justice and peace among all people.
