The prophet Jeremiah proclaimed that the Lord would fulfill the promise made to Israel, and God kept his promise in the coming of his son, Jesus Christ. How in turn might we as Christians bear witness to this promise kept? Paul’s 2nd Epistle to Timothy offers this instruction, “As for you, always be steady, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.” Each of us has a ministry, a calling, whether we be laity or clergy. Fulfilling our calling might simply mean to walk the way of love, serving as ambassadors of God’s loving-kindness in our local communities and the world.
