“Share” is not a word I normally associate with Advent, at least not when I feel inundated by the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. But the people of God are marked by a different sort of sharing: during Advent, it’s like we take one great gulp and hold our breaths together, waiting and hoping for what’s to come. We share a collective longing in common, desperate for the one who will rejoice over us with gladness, renew us in love, and exult over us with singing. And to this different kind of sharing, we cling.
