Trust
In seminary, I learned that when the Bible says “believe,” a better translation might be “trust.” Belief is a word I associate with my will, my decision-making mind. Trust, though, I feel more in the body. It’s like settling into a chair. You don’t have to turn around and see the chair for it to hold you up. You sit down, trusting that you will not fall.
Confiar
En el seminario, aprendí que cuando la Biblia dice “creer”, una mejor traducción podría ser “confiar”. Creer es algo que vinculo a mi voluntad, a mi mente que toma decisiones. Confiar, sin embargo, es algo que siento más en el cuerpo. Es como sentarse en una silla. No miramos la silla fijamente esperando que nos sostenga. Nos sentamos, confiando en que no caeremos.
