Heed
When I tell my kids to “listen to me!” they often retort “we are listening!” But maybe what I really mean when I say “listen” is actually “heed.” Not just to hear my words, but to pay attention, and put them into action. How often do I heed - not just listen to - the words of Jesus? How often do I stop and pay attention, and let those words change the way I act? Thanks be to God for grace - the only thing that makes such attention possible.

Cuando les digo a mis hijos "¡atención!", a menudo responden "¡la tienes!". Pero tal vez lo que realmente quiero decir cuando digo "atención" es en realidad "presten atención". No solo para escuchar mis palabras, sino para prestar atención y ponerlas en acción. ¿Con qué frecuencia voy más allá de solo oír, y presto realmente atención a las palabras de Jesús? ¿Con qué frecuencia me detengo y presto atención, y dejo que esas palabras cambien la forma en que actúo?
