Counsel
The word counsel brings back campfires, late-night conversations, and years of listening as a camp counselor and also as the one who needed it. Counsel is more than advice. At its best, it is patient presence, a steady guide, and a willing companion. Isaiah names the Messiah “Wonderful Counselor,” which tells me something about God’s heart. God does not rush us or hand out quick fixes. God stays with us and heals. I have learned from mentors, friends, children, and entire communities whose lives are rooted in hope. In this season of waiting, Christ counsels us through love and wisdom. How might we make space to listen more closely during Advent?

La palabra consejo me recuerda fogatas, conversaciones nocturnas y años de escuchar como consejero de campamento, no solo para dar consejo sino también para buscarlo. El consejo es más que “Los cinco tips para bajar de peso” que podrían aparecer en una revista. En el mejor de los casos, es una presencia paciente, una guía constante y un compañero dispuesto.
