Honor
I recently asked a group of thirteen second graders the meaning of “honor”. When we recite the Girl Scout promise and say, “On my honor, I will try…” what does that mean? One of the girls responded, “It means you keep your word.” I love this definition of honor. The words in this week’s collect can become mechanical for me, but not when I think of the Trinity having honor in this way. Even in the most uncertain days of Advent, we can trust that God will keep God's word.
Honor
Recientemente le pregunté a un grupo de trece estudiantes de segundo grado el significado de "honor". Cuando recitamos la promesa de las Girl Scouts, decimos: "Por mi honor, intentaré..." ¿Qué significa eso? Una de las chicas respondió: "Significa que cumples tu palabra". Me encanta esta definición de honor. Las palabras en la colecta de esta semana pueden volverse mecánicas para mí, pero no cuando receurdo que la Trinidad tiene honor de esta manera. Incluso en los días más inciertos del Adviento, podemos confiar en que Dios cumplirá su palabra.
